About Silver Dollar Winery & bowen family wines

The story of our beginning is rooted in our passion for wine, motorcycles, auto racing, and enjoying good times with friends and family. Richard and Melanie met at NASCAR in 2008, united by a shared love of motorcycling. With Richard's diverse skills as a jack of all trades and commercial truck driver, combined with Melanie's expertise as a nurse practitioner and advocate for chemistry and wine, Silver Dollar Winery and Bowen Family Wines was born.  

Silver Dollar Winery Bedford was established in 2015 and expanded to Hill Country Hye/Johnson City, Texas, in 2020, Silver Dollar Winery has quickly become the premier destination for custom Texas wine and award-winning Texas wines. Richard and Melanie Bowen meticulously select pristine grapes and collaborate with skilled growers to craft exceptional custom wines for our friends and customers.  

Our commitment is to cultivate a reputation for producing award-winning Texas wines that cater to every palate, ranging from sweet to dry red wines. What started as a love of wine has blossomed into a remarkable collection of over 25 wines. Moving forward, we are dedicated to sharing our custom Texas wine with you from our fun, pet- and family-friendly winery in Bedford and Johnson City.  

Our vineyards for red wines and varietals are situated in West Texas, particularly in the Brownfield area of the Texas High Plains.  A few grape varietals will come from the North Texas and East Texas  American Viticulture area (AVA) . We carry 100% Texas wines, however, as we produce over 25 different wines we can source  grape varietals from other AVA’s. Richard and Melanie are passionate about supporting and promoting the growth of local Texas wines, featuring selections from various vineyards to enhance the Love of Texas Wine!
